What To Do When Life Throws You a Curve Ball

What To Do When Life Throws You a Curve Ball: Introduction

We’ve all had days where everything seems to go wrong: the kids miss their bus, you lock your keys in the car, you have a misunderstanding with your spouse, you get the 24 hour stomach bug, you’re betrayed by a friend, and other such trials and tribulations.
I think we realize that in this life, we will suffer. We live in a fallen world and as long as we are in the world, we will experience hardships. John 16:33 says, “In this world you WILL have tribulation.” I Peter 4:12 states, “Don’t think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you..” And Philippians 1:29 reminds us, “It has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake.”
We accept that life includes many difficulties, BUT it’s those big, unexpected hardships that come out of nowhere like a curve ball and hit us where it hurts: A devastating diagnosis, a major job loss, an unfaithful spouse, a child addicted to drugs, the death of a loved one, or the overwhelming impact from the threat of the Corona virus!
During these times fear & faith are opposing forces that will constantly be battling within us. We need to resist the spirit of fear and embrace the power of love and a sound mind. We need to realize that even when our lives are out of control, God is still in control!
We can’t control what life sends our way, but we can control how we respond to it.
Stay tuned tomorrow for the first of 12 things you can do when life throws you a curve ball…
